1940s Black Beaded Gown by Barbara Claire

This is the quintessential 1940s evening gown with large shoulder pads and an embellished neckline.

The standout feature is the high, collarless keyhole neckline. It is accented by a wide, circular "necklace" bib encrusted with shimmering black glass bugle beads.

The dress has short dolman sleeves and a fitted waist. The floor-length skirt is characterized by intricate draping, with vertical pleats or ruching at the center front that falls into soft, elegant folds.
