Vintage Late 1930s Womens Suit

This vintage two-piece suit is fashioned in a soft, muted light what I am guessing is a rayon Gaberdine blend with a subtle woven texture. The color is very difficult to capture. It’s a yellow-green color sometimes called vintage olive. It was a very popular color in the late 30s and early 40s.

The fitted jacket features a gently nipped waist, softly padded shoulders with modest sleeve gathers, and a distinctive wide notched collar. Vertical stitched tucks extend downward from the shoulder yoke across the front, lending elegant structure while emphasizing the slim silhouette.

The jacket fastens with four oversized decorative lucite buttons, each centered with a warm amber insert and encircled by a ring of glittering gold confetti, creating a striking Art Deco-inspired accent.

Rounded patch-style hip pockets blend smoothly into the tailored lines without adding bulk. The jacket is lined in a dark orange rayon crepe.

The coordinating skirt falls below the knee in a graceful A-line shape.

CONDITION:

Overall the suit is in great condition for its age. The seams are tight as the outfit appears well made. The only issue I find are two pin sized darker spot on the skirt. Literally the size of pin heads. The jacket lining is in good shape but like most vintage jackets, there is discoloration in various areas.

I am rating this suit as being in very good condition.
