Mark Jones was an incredible San Francisco designer in the 1980s, still talked about and missed today. I am privileged to have two of his amazing gowns to sell, and this is one of them.
This elegant late 1930s–early 1940s evening gown is made from a medium-weight, lustrous rayon with a fine vertical ribbed texture, giving the fabric a beautiful sheen and substantial drape. The richly colored floral print features roses and foliage in varying shades of blue, teal, and hints of green. The subtle darker and lighter tones create depth. The fabric has enough body to hold the softly gathered skirt while remaining fluid and graceful.
The gown has a glamorous halter neckline and fitted, ruched bodice, emphasizing the bust and narrow waist.
A slim matching belt defines the waist before the skirt opens into a long, sweeping silhouette with generous fullness and soft vert
ical folds. The dress zips in the back.
A dramatic oversized silk green fabric flower corsage at the shoulder adds an especially theatrical touch. The combination of the halter neckline, defined waist, flowing skirt, bold floral print, and corsage gives the gown the sophisticated, romantic glamour associated with late-1930s/early-1940s formal eveningwear.
CONDITION:
As seen in two picture of the top, the banding on the right and left side looks slightly discolored. They are very hard to notice and would not be seen in an evening setting.
Otherwise I find no tears, holes, fading, smells or any other issues.
I am rating this as being in VERY GOOD CONDITION.
