Stunning 1960s Hattie Carnegie for I. Magnin three-piece ensemble, beautifully constructed in navy boucle wool with a coordinating shantung silk floral print.
Hattie Carnegie was one of the most important American fashion entrepreneurs and tastemakers of the first half of the 20th century.
Her specialty was sophisticated, beautifully made clothing for affluent women—particularly tailored suits, elegant dresses, evening clothes, hats and accessories. She became especially associated with the refined “little Carnegie suit.”
This is that suit. This set includes a cropped navy wool jacket, matching high-waisted skirt, and silk blouse in an ivory background with navy florals outlined in red. The tailored jacket features a sculpted collar, oversized buttons, bracelet-length sleeves, and small flap pockets. The silk blouse echoes the jacket lining, creating a particularly striking look when the jacket is worn open or draped over the shoulders.
A sophisticated, beautifully coordinated example of 1960s American designer fashion, retailed by I. Magnin, with wonderful attention to fabric, construction, and detail.
CONDITION:
This suit is in EXCELLENT condition. I find absolutely no flaws. The colors are strong and the suit has strong seams as if it were made yesterday.
There is no fading, tears, rips, holes or smells.
