1940s Beaded Crepe Dress

This is a 1940s beige/ivory crepe dress with dramatic hand-beading sweeping across one shoulder and down the sleeve.

The stylized botanical motif is worked in golden bronze and smoky gray beads, giving the otherwise understated dress a striking Art Deco–influenced look.

The dress has a simple round neckline, long sleeves, a fitted waist, and a graceful mid-calf skirt. Subtle gathering at one hip creates soft draping and emphasizes the classic 1940s silhouette. The dress zips at the side and fastens on the back of the neck with two fabric buttons.

CONDITION:

The dress has 3 issues which are reflected in the price.

The dress has a slight overall yellow tinge to it. I cannot tell if this was the original color or if this happened due to age. My camera isn’t picking up on it but you can see on the photo of the two neck buttons.

There are a couple very faint water marks and some nubbing of the fabric here and there. This is not noticeable unless looking for it. There is a pin hole in one of the back buttons.

The zipper is stiff and might need some WD or possible replacement. It’s the original zipper.

Last but not least there is no belt. It would be possible to use some of the inner hem to make a belt.

I am rating this as being in VERY GOOD CONDITION.
