This is what couture is all about. This is simply the most amazing hat from the 50s that I have ever seen!
G. Howard Hodge was one of the best known milliners in the 20th Century. After WWII, he went from traveling salesman to starting his own factory. He launched the Catalan line in 1927 and established G. Howard Hats, Inc. in New York. In 1943 and 1948 he applied for patents for hats. His designs were inventive and well made for the high end market.
This piece is incredible. The felt feels like velvet. The style is a cloche and looks 1920s inspired. There is a netting design woven with tiny perfect rhinestones. The top of the hat shows a piece of felt which holds the spray of feathers. I am not sure what type of features they are.
